Matadors Take a Break From Preseason Camp to Host Alumni Match

In the midst of their second week of preseason practice, the Cal State Northridge women's volleyball team will host their annual Alumni match Saturday, Aug. 20.

More than 70 alumni, family and friends of the volleyball program are scheduled to be in attendance when the 2011 team hosts a squad of alumni. The match will start at 1 p.m. followed by a barbeque around 3 p.m.

Northridge career kills leader Laura (Symanski) Walter is scheduled to compete for the alumni along with Alexis Cormier (1998-2001), Kelley Hanson (2005-08), Brittany Williams (2007-10) and Karina Woehrstein (2009-10) amongst others.

The Matadors resume practice on Monday in preparation for next Friday's (Aug. 26) season opener against Northwestern as part of the Utah Classic in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Northridge, coming off a 13-19 (5-11 Big West) season in 2010, was picked to finish eighth in the Big West Conference according to the conference's coaches in the preseason poll.
