AUSTIN, Texas - Cal State Northridge concluded competition at the NCAA West Preliminary Round Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Kemar Marsden, Ese Ntekume and the women's 4x400 relay team competed Saturday and although the Matadors got a pair of season-bests, CSUN did not advance in the three events.
Marsden advanced out of the first round of the 200 meters on Friday after clocking a time of 21.03, then ran a season-best 20.93 on Saturday but finished 16th in the field. Only the top-12 move on to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
Ese Ntekume advanced out of the first round of the women's triple jump before recording a season-best mark of 40-11 (12.47) to finish 25th out of 48 jumpers in the field.
The women's 4x400 relay gave CSUN its last chance of advancing to the NCAA Championships but unfortunately the team of Jackie Harrison, Precious Watkins, Jasmine Cox and Samantha Dirks finished in 3:42.53 which left them seventh in their heat and 22nd overall.
