NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---
The Cal State Northridge softball program will hold its annual Alumni game Sunday, Sept. 30 at Matador Diamond. All former Matadors and fans are welcome to this free event, which will begin at 10 a.m. and feature food and a chance to meet the 2013 squad.
Former Olympic Gold Medalist and Team USA Junior Women's National Team Head Coach Tairia Flowers enters her third season at the helm of the Matadors. Caitlin Benyi and Cindy Ball will serve as assistant coaches and Natasha Watley is the team's volunteer assistant coach.
The Matadors feature a rich history on the softball diamond, winning four NCAA Division II national championships in a five-year span (1983, 1984, 1985, 1987). That winning tradition has continued since CSUN moved to Division I as the Matadors have qualified for 13 regionals and finished national runners-up in the 1994 Women's College World Series.
The 2013 Matadors return 13 letterwinners from last season and welcome six newcomers to the squad. Included in that group is seniors Mia Pagano and Mikayla Thielges, both of whom have earned All-Big West honors during their Northridge careers.
