Sixth-Place Finish for Cal State Northridge at Big West Championship

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - In fourth-place after one round, the Cal State Northridge women's golf team could not hang in to a top-five finish as a final round 315 dropped the Matadors to sixth-place at the conclusion of the 2012 Big West Women's Golf Championship at San Luis Obispo C.C.

Northridge has now finished in sixth-place in three of the last four conference championships. The Matadors posted their best team score (936) in three championship events held at San Luis Obispo C.C.

Northridge put three players in the top-15 as junior Margo Dionisio finished tied for fourth, senior Ellen Krausse tied for 11th and senior Kendall Patten tied for 13th.

Dionisio matched her opening-round 77 with a final-round 77 on Tuesday to finish tied for fourth at 11-over 227, her low 54-hole score of the season. The junior from Whittier, Calif. posted her best finish in three conference championship events and was in contention throughout the tournament. After posting just eight bogeys in the first two rounds of the championship, Dionisio had six bogeys along with one double-bogey on the way to a final round 77. She began the day just three shots behind the leader but, despite three birdies, dropped four shots over the course of the final round.

Krausse was playing in her first Big West Championship while Patten was playing in her second with both players looking for a top-10 finish to round out their Matador career. Krausse finished with her best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a final round three-over 75 which left her tied for 11th-place at 14-over 230. Patten finished with a 79 on Tuesday to finish the three-day tournament in 13th-place with rounds of 78-74-79 to easily post her best 54-hole total of the season.
