UPDATE (June 10): Jones-Stevenson finished third in Pool B with a record of 1-2. The duo dropped their opening match 21-14, 21-16 to the team of Retterholt-Mol of Norway before winning by forfeit over the team of Mora-Lopez of Nicaragua. Jones-Stevenson completed pool play with a close 21-18, 21-19 loss to Needing a win to advance to Revuelta-Galindo of Mexico. Needing a win to advance to round two, the duo dropped a 21-13, 21-13 decision to Bykanov-Ostrakhovskiy of Russia in their final match of the tournament.
"It was an incredible experience being able to represent the United States again on a world stage, said Jones. "We are of course disappointed in our play after making the quarterfinals last year, but we knew it would be a tough tournament. Moving up in age groups and playing so close to the end of the school year caused for some poor results, but we will use it as motivation to do better next summer.
"We both feel like we have a full time future with USA Beach volleyball once our college careers are over so we would like to thank them for the time and money they have invested in us. We can now focus on indoor and help CSUN win a national championship in 2014."
