Lev-Ari Earns Pair of Honors after Three-Goal Week
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -
After scoring three goals and leading the Matadors to a pair of wins Cal State Northridge forward Sagi Lev-Ari was named the Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Lev-Ari scored the first two goals in CSUN's 5-0 win at San Diego before tallying one in a 2-0 win over Air Force to take home the honor.
Later in the day, Lev-Ari was selected by College Sports Madness as the Madness Big West Player of the Week.
On Thursday night at San Diego, Lev-Ari scored twice in the match's opening 11 minutes to put the Matadors ahead early. He picked up his third multiple-goal game of the season and helped Northridge defeat the Toreros for the first time since 2004.
Then, in Northridge's win over Air Force on Saturday night, Lev-Ari scored off of a free kick in the 15th minute. The sophomore received a short pass at the top of the box and lined a shot through the wall of defenders and into the goal.
Lev-Ari picked up both of Northridge's game-winning goals this week and has nine goals this season. He leads the Big West in goals scored, points (18) and game-winning goals (4).
For the week, he took eight shots with four shots on goal. His nine goals currently rank third in the nation.
