GREENSBORO, NC - Cal State Northridge junior Chris Russo bounced back from an opening-round to post back-to-back rounds of 74 on his way to a 44th-place finish Saturday at the NCAA Greensboro Regional at the Grandover Resort.
Making his NCAA Regional debut, Russo finished the three-day event at 11-over 227. The Matadors' leading scorer this season struggled in round one on Thursday finishing the day with seven bogeys and the rest pars on the way to a seven-over 79.
Friday and Saturday's rounds were better for the junior from Thousand Oaks, Calif., as he posted a total of seven birdies over the final two rounds. He had just eight bogeys over the final 36 holes but was victimized by a triple-bogey seven on the par-4 fifth hole in round two.
Russo wraps up his season with a 72.8 stroke average which ranks fifth in Cal State Northridge single-season history.
