Russo Fourth, Northridge Seventh After Two Rounds at Anteater Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. - In its final tuneup before the 2012 Big West Championship, Cal State Northridge carded team rounds of 299-291 and is in seventh-place after two rounds of the Anteater Invitational at Shady Canyon G.C. Individually, junior Chris Russo is alone in fourth-place at 140.

Northridge's two-round total of 590 is just five shots off its season-low total for 36 holes. The Matadors are also just five shots out of the top-five in the nine-team field. Long Beach State (569) leads the team race followed by San Jose State (575), UC Irvine (585), UC Santa Barbara (585), St. John's (585), Cal State Fullerton (588), the Matadors (590), UC Riverside (613) and CSU Bakersfield (613).

Russo continued his solid spring season as he leads the Matadors with a two-round total of two under-par 140. The junior from Thousand Oaks has led Northridge in scoring in five of six spring tournaments. He opened Monday with an even par 71 before posting a two-under 69 in the afternoon round.

Sophomore Ryan Green and senior Jason Rosenkranz are also in the top-20 after two rounds. Green opened with a two-over 73 and then posted a four-over 75 in round two while Rosenkranz opened with a six-over 77 before rebounding with a second round even-par 71. Both players are currently tied for 18th at six -over 148.

Freshman Steven Molumby is in 44th-place at (+15) 157 after posting rounds of 78-79, Shane Blanchard is in 46th-place at (+17) 159 after rounds of 83-76 and Jared LeGrand, competing as an individual, is 50th at (+25) 167 following rounds of 87-80.

The third and final round is scheduled for Tuesday morning.
