Northridge, Calif. – Cal State Northridge will play its only exhibition game of the 2011-12 season when the Matadors host the Lancers of Cal Baptist at The Matadome on Saturday, November 5.
Game time is 2 p.m.
Admission is free.
Cal State Northridge officially opens the 2011-12 regular season against the USC Trojans at the Galen Center in Los Angeles on Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. The home opener is Nov. 22 against San Diego Christian.
Cal State Northridge will be a very young team in 2011-12. Thirteen of the team's 16 players on the roster are underclassmen. There are only three seniors (Ari Feldman, John Hayward-Mayhew, Vinnie McGhee) with no juniors. There are seven freshmen on the roster with six sophomores.
The Matadors are picked to finish eighth in the Big West Conference.
During the past four seasons, Cal State Northridge basketball has been featured prominently on television (29 times to be exact), including games on CBS, Fox Sports Net and ESPNU ... During CSUN's march to the NCAA Tournament in 2008-09, Matador games were televised a school record nine times ... Matador basketball fans will have the opportunity to see Cal State Northridge three times on television during the 2011-12 men's basketball season ... On November 15, the Matadors will be featured nationally on ESPN against the University of Hawaii in Honolulu … The game will air at 1 a.m. Pacific Time (11 p.m. HT, November 14) at the Stan Sheriff Arena ... Then on January 21, 2012 when the Matadors travel to Cal Poly, the Big West game will be televised on Fox Sports Net (Prime Ticket) at 5:30 p.m. ... On February 25, the Matadors conference game at UC Irvine will be televised on Fox Sports Net (Prime Ticket) … Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
Cal Baptist opened the exhibition season on Nov. 2 with a 66-54 loss at UC Irvine ... Andrew Fisk led the Lancers with 15 points followed by Aleksander Milovic with 13 points ... Justus Von Wright is the team's top returning scorer at 11.8 ppg.
Cal State Northridge has played Cal Baptist only once in school history ... On Dec. 21, 2004, the Matadors scored a 79-60 decision.
