Greg Jack Joins CSUN Track & Field as New Throws Coach

Northridge, CA – CSUN Athletics and Interim Head Track & Field Coach Lawrence Johnson have announced that Greg Jack has joined the program as a new Assistant Coach, specializing in the throwing events. Jack comes to the Matadors with almost 20 years of collegiate and international coaching experience and among his awards and accolades, he has coached 67 All-Americans and 13 National Champions.

"I am absolutely thrilled to add Greg to the staff," said Johnson. "I think he brings a wealth of knowledge and coaching experience to our program and I look forward to his enthusiasm and expertise. Greg and I have been friends for more than a decade and we achieved a lot of success and won a lot of championships together in the past. We're looking forward to picking up that same momentum together here at CSUN."

Jack most recently served as the Associate Head Track & Field Coach at Virginia Tech. He spent 16 years with the Hokies coaching shot put, discus, hammer, javelin and weight throw student-athletes and his programs won 12 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championships and placed among the top 10 programs in the NCAA six times. Jack has four times been named the Southeast Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year and was honored as the 2006 USTFCCCA National Throws Coach of the Year. His student-athletes set four ACC conference records and four ACC championship meet records.

Jack has significant international coaching experience, having served as the National Coach for Croatia at the 2009 Under 23 European Championships and the National Coach for Trinidad and Tobago at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic games. He has also coached several individual Olympians over the course of his career. Â Â

Prior to his time with the Hokies, Jack spent three years at the University of Pittsburgh as an Assistant Track & Field Coach and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.
