NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--CSUN Softball head coach Tairia Flowers has announced the promotion of Mysha Sataraka from volunteer assistant coach to Matadors' assistant coach for the 2018 season.
Â
Sataraka began her coaching career last season with CSUN. She worked with the Matadors' hitters and infielders. The team went on to post impressive offensive numbers including a program-best 50 home runs and 75 doubles. CSUN also finished first in the Big West Conference in runs (262), triples (15), runs batted in (239), extra base hits (140), batting average (.286), on-base percentage (.359), slugging percentage (.470) and home runs.Â
Â
"Mysha did such a great job in our program last year," Flowers said. "She has so much knowledge and passion for the game, we can't wait for her to continue to grow as an up and coming coach. The players adore her and I can't say more good things about her work ethic and who she is as a person."
Â
Prior to coaching, Sataraka enjoyed a standout collegiate career (2013-16) where she helped the Bruins to a pair of Women's College World Series appearances from 2015-16. As a senior, Sataraka hit .380 with 15 home runs, 59 RBI and 59 walks en route to earning National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America second team, All-Pac-12 first team and NFCA All-West Region first team honors following the season. In all, Sataraka received three All-Pac-12 nods and two NFCA All-West Region awards in her career.Â
Along with her time with the Bruins, Sataraka represented Team USA and played for coach Flowers at the 2013 Junior Women's World Championship and helped the team earn a silver medal. Sataranka joined Flowers again in the summer of 2016 with the USA Softball Women's Elite Team at the World Cup of Softball XI.Â
Â
Sataraka played for the Texas Charge of the National Fastpitch Softball League during the summer of 2017. She appeared in 43 games for the Charge, hitting .250 with two home runs and eight runs batted in. She posted a .407 on base and a .375 slugging percentage.
Sataraka graduated from UCLA with a degree in political science with a concentration in international relations.Â
