NORTHRIDGE, CA - CSUN women's volleyball head coach Jeff Stork was named to the inaugural class of the Southern California Indoor Volleyball Hall of Fame on Jan. 4. An induction ceremony will be held on May 7 at the Highway 39 Event Center in Anaheim, CA

Stork is part of a 25-member inaugural SCIVBHOF class that also includes Andy Banachowski, Laurel Brassey Iversen, Craig Buck, Deitre Collins-Parker, Tara Cross-Battle, Bob Ctvrtlik, Marv Dunphy, Dusty Dvorak, Rolf Engen, Debbie Green, Kathy Gregory, Bryan Ivie, Karch Kiraly, Ricci Luyties, Chris Marlowe, Misty May-Treanor, Kim Oden, Mike O'Hara, Doug Partie, Al Scates, Gene Selznick, Sinjin Smith, Steve Timmons and Paula Weishoff.
"Southern California was obviously the place to be in the early days of volleyball, so to be included in this group of players and coaches is a great honor," said Stork. "Volleyball has grown into more of a national sport over the last 30 years, especially on the women's side, but in the early years Southern California was the place where many of the better players came from. To have your name mentioned among this group is certainly special."Â
Stork is a highly decorated volleyball player and picked up many accolades and medals throughout his career, including being named the co-winner (with Doug Partie) of the 1987 Players Award
In addition to winning the gold medal at the 1988 Olympic Games, Stork struck gold at the 1985 NORCECA Championships, the 1985 World Cup, the 1986 World Championships, the 1987 Savvin Cup and the 1987 Pan-American Games. He has also won three silver medals (1985 Savvin Cup, 1987 NORCECA Championships and the 1991 NORCECA Championships) in his career and two bronze medals (1992 Olympic Games and in the 1992 World League).
In 2003, Stork was named to the USA Volleyball Men's (1978-2002) 75th Anniversary All-Era Team.
More recently, he was one of six legends inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame as the Class of 2012. The induction ceremony took place in Holyoke, Mass., on Oct. 20, 2012.
Stork was also named to the Los Angeles City Section Hall of Fame Class of 2013 as a 1978 graduate of Taft High School. Stork was inducted along with such sports legends as Warren Moon, Robin Yount, Eddie Murray, Garrett Anderson, James Lofton, Al Scates, Oscar De La Hoya and others.
Overall, the inductees into this first SCIVBHOF class includes more than 100 combined Olympic medals, NCAA, AIAW & USVBA Titles and numerous United States Volleyball Association (USAV) honors from the 1950s into the 2000s. Elissa Sato, grandmother of current CSUN player Katie Sato who had a long career as a volleyball scorekeeper and is the mother of the Sato volleyball family, was selected for the first SCIVB Lifetime Service Award.
