Matadors Fall to Sixth-Ranked Hawai'i in Straight Sets

NORTHRIDGE, CA - The sixth-ranked Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine snapped a two-match losing streak in The Matadome with a straight set win (25-14, 25-17, 25-19) over the Matadors in a Big West match on Saturday.
CSUN (5-19, 4-8 Big West) came in looking for its first win over a ranked team this season but came up empty while dropping its fouth straight match.
The Matadors were paced by senior Cieana Stinson who put down a match-high 13 kills while hitting .200 on 35 swings. Julie Haake and Aeryn Owens each added sven kills with Owens hitting .357 on 14 attacks.
Erin Indermill registered 21 assists in relief of Maddie Leiphardt who had 10 over the first two sets.
As a team, CSUN hit .226 (34-15-84) while the visitors checked in at .436 (43-9-78) to remain unbeaten in Big West play.
Olivia Magill put down 11 kills to lead Hawai'i which improved to 22-1 overall and 12-0 in conference play.
CSUN continues its four-match homestand next week as the Matadors host Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday and Long Beach State on Friday. Both matches are scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve.
