Northridge, Calif. - Last year, Brianna Battles' title as assistant water polo coach included the tag "interim".
Not any more.
Battles (formerly Brianna Wilson) will enter her first official season in 2010 as an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge.
"Brianna brings the desire, passion, and skill-set needed to be an excellent coach," according to head coach Marcelo Leonardi. "As a graduate and former water polo player at CSUN, she also brings in-depth knowledge of the program, expectations, including alumni relations. Her addition to the program will add a new dimension to our recruiting, alumni, and coaching efforts which will ultimately translate into further success."
In her interim year, the 2010 season, she helped coach the water polo team to a regular season Big West Championship, and their highest national ranking (ninth) in the team's history.
Battles played three years in the Matador program after starting her collegiate career at San Jose State.
Battles, who earned a degree in Kinesiology at CSUN, graduated in May 2008. She also currently works in Corporate Wellness as a Wellness Coordinator, designing exercise and nutrition programs.
Battles graduated from Bonita High School in 2004 in LaVerne, Calif. While at Bonita, she played water polo and swam for the swim team.
She is married to Jared Battles, and they currently reside in Thousand Oaks, CA.
