#16 Cal State Northridge Beats #18 UCSD, Loses to #9 SDSU

San Diego, Ca. - Cal State Northridge, ranked 16th in the nation, completed play at the Aztec Invitational on Sunday with a 9-6 victory over UC San Diego but a 17-7 loss to San Diego State.

In the first game, the Matadors exploded for four second period goals en route to the three-goal win over the 18th-ranked UC San Diego Tritons.

Cal State Northridge led throughout the game against UCSD. CSUN led 2-1 after one period, 6-3 at halftime, and 8-5 after three periods.

In the second game of the day, San Diego State's high-powered offense was a bit too much for Cal State Northridge. The Aztecs, ranked ninth in the nation, recorded a 17-7 victory. SDSU jumped to a 5-3 first period lead, led 9-5 at the halfway mark, and then exploded for six third period goals to take a 15-7 lead.
