Northridge, Calif. – Off to a strong start in 2014, the Cal State Northridge women's water polo team travels to the Cal Baptist Invitational on Saturday, February 1.
The Matadors will play two games in the tournament. At 9:00 am, the Matadors face Cal Baptist. At 1:30 p.m., CSUN will meet Pomona-Pitzer.
Cal State Northridge is 3-1 after competing last weekend at the UCSB Winter Invite. Marisa Young led Matador scorers with 12 goals in four games. Jenny Jamison collected ten goals including a career-high six goals against Cal State Monterey Bay. Kiernan Davis had 19 saves in goal for the Matadors.
The Matadors are currently ranked 15th in the nation.

Even after the first week of competition, the Matadors are shaking up the CSUN Top-10 record book … Kiernan Davis, with 19 saves at the UCSB Winter Invite, now has 405 career saves to move into fourth place all-time at CSUN, ahead of Jessica Moody (388 career saves, 2002-03) … With 12 goals at the UCSB Tournament, Marisa Young has 127 career goals, tenth-best in the CSUN record book … Lindsy Nelson had six goals to give her 168 in her Matador career, fourth-best all-time, just ahead of Jessica Coy (162 career goals, 2006-09) … Jenny Jamison, with her nine goals, now has 130 career goals, ninth-best in school history.
All six schools that compete in women's water polo in the Big West Conference are nationally-ranked … UC Irvine is ranked fifth, Hawai'i is ranked sixth, Long Beach State is 12th, Cal State Northridge is ranked 15th while UC Davis is ranked 17th followed by UC Santa Barbara in the 18th position.
