#14 Cal State Northridge Falls At #7 Hawai’i, 10-8

Honolulu, Hawaii – Cal State Northridge, ranked 14th in the nation, held a 6-4 lead in the second period at seventh-ranked University of Hawai'i, but the Rainbow Wahine outscored the Matadors, 4-1, in the fourth period to eventually post a 10-8 victory in a Big West Conference game on Saturday night.

Game time temperature on Saturday night at the Duke Kahanamoku Complex was 79 degrees.

Lindsy Nelson scored two of her three goals for CSUN in the first period as both teams were even at 4-4. Nelson added another goal in the second period along with a Kelcie Ferreira score to give CSUN a 6-4 lead with 4:56 remaining before intermission.

But Hawai'i scored twice to tie the game at 6-6 at halftime.

With 2:21 left in the third period, Marisa Young scored the only goal for either team to give CSUN a 7-6 advantage.

But in the fourth period, Hawai'i scored four straight goals in a four-minute span to take a 10-7 lead. Amarens Genee and Monika Eggens accounted for nine of UH's ten goals. Genee had a game-high five goals including three scores in the fourth period.

Kelcie Ferreira scored her second goal of the game for Cal State Northridge with 1:14 remaining in the game.

Final Score – Hawai'i 10, Cal State Northridge 8

Cal State Northridge fell to 20-11 overall and 2-4 in the Big West Conference. Hawai'i is 18-9 overall and 6-1 in the conference.
