Northridge, Calif. – Cal State Northridge hits the road for a pair of Big West Conference games this weekend.
The Matadors, ranked 18th in the nation, face Pacific on Saturday (4/14/12). On Sunday (4/15/12), the Matadors travel to eleventh-ranked UC Davis. Both games will start at Noon.
Pacific is struggling. The Tigers have lost eight games in a row, and eleven of its last 12 games. Pacific is 9-15 overall and 0-3 in the Big West Conference.
UC Davis, ranked eleventh in the country, is currently 14-12 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The Aggies have won nine of its last ten games. UC Davis hosts #15 UC Santa Barbara on Saturday (4/14/12) before CSUN's arrival at UCD on Sunday.
UC Davis will be the current site of the 2012 Big West Conference Tournament from April 27-29. The Big West received an automatic qualification to the NCAA Championship for the first time in league history in 2011. Once again, the Big West Tournament champion will earn one of nine slots for the 2012 NCAA Women' Water Polo Championship, which will be played May 11-13 at the Aztec Aquaplex in San Diego. Host San Diego State will become an official member of the Big West Conference in 2013.
Cal State Northridge is 15-16 overall and 1-2 in league play.
The scoring trio of Jenny Jamison (59 goals, #8 for a single season), Marisa Young (53 goals, #10 for a single season) and Lindsy Nelson (42 goals) have accounted for 154 of the team's 306 goals. That translates into a little more than 50 percent of the team's offense.
Dana Harvey remains the team's top goalkeeper with 225 saves, seventh-best for a single season in school history.
