Limited CSUN Squad Competes at Mt. SAC Invitational

WALNUT, Calif. - Cal State Northridge sent a pair of athletes to compete at the 56th Annual Mt. SAC Relays over the weekend while most of the men's and women's squads had the weekend off to rest up for the homestretch of the 2014 outdoor season.

Tiana Webberley and Alex Monsivaiz represented CSUN at the prestigious meet and both performed well.

Webberley, the two-time Big West pole vault champion and CSUN record holder, tied for ninth at Mt. SAC but cleared a season-best of 12-7.50 (3.85). The senior easily bettered her previous season-best of 12-3.50 (3.75) on her second attempt before missing on three attempts at 13-1.50 (4.00). Her height ranks third in the Big West Conference this season.

In the men's 800 meters, Monsivaiz clocked a CSUN season-best 1:53.66 to finish 41st in a stacked field of 800 meter runners. His time currently rabnks 15th in the conference this season.

The Matador men and women have two more tuneups before the Big West Track & Field Championships get underway May 9 at UC Davis. CSUN will travel to Fresno State this weekend (Apr. 26) for the Bulldog Invitational before heading to the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas on May 3.
