The Cal State Northridge women's tennis team (12-7) defeated Westmont 6-1 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match in Santa Barbara, Calif. The Matadors swept through doubles play and took five of the six singles matches in straight sets to secure the road victory.
CSUN continued its hot play, defeating Westmont to post its sixth win in its last seven matches. The freshmen doubles team of Mickey Hsu and Kristen Poei improved to a sterling 16-1 on the season with an 8-2 victory in the No. 1 draw.
The Matadors mixed up their doubles partners in the second and third draw to success. Vivian Lin and Jessica Warren won 8-3 in the second draw and Criss Rodriguez and Lorraine Cheung won 8-1 in the third draw.
In singles play, Hsu did not lose a game in winning the second match and Poei did not lose a game in the winning the fourth match. Lorraine Cheung won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and Warren lost one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Rodriguez was the final Matador to win in singles, capturing the third draw 6-3, 6-4. Hsu has now won six straight matches in singles play.
CSUN returns to action Sunday with a pivotal Big West contest at UC Santa Barbara. First serve from Santa Barbara on April 13 is slated for noon.
