Matadors Down Highlanders 6-1 in Big West Action

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---

Tbe Cal State Northridge women's tennis team (4-2, 1-2 Big West) defeated UC Riverside 6-1 Sunday in a Big West Conference contest at Andulka Park in Riverside, Calif. The Matadors continued their strong doubles play and then won five of the six singles contests to pick up their first league win of the season.

In doubles play, the Matadors captured all three contests to earn the match's first point. Seniors Sabrina Man-Son-Hing and Anna Yang improved to 6-0 on th season with an 8-5 victory at the No. 1 draw.

In the second match, Maria Pistalu and Lorraine Cheung secured an 8-5 victory as well. Finally, Corinne Schnyder and Jessica Warren took an 8-2 victory in the No. 3 match.

In singles, Pistalu was one of five Matadors to win in straight sets and took both in the No. 1 draw at 6-2. Yang won at No. 3 and Cheung lost only three three games in the fourth draw. Schnyder and Warren also cruised to victory in the fifth and sixth matches.
