April 8, 2014 Matadors Face Roadrunners, Gauchos in Five-Game Slate The Cal State Northridge softball team (25-14, 3-3 Big West) has a busy week ahead as it plays five game. On Wednesday, April 9, the Matadors head to Bakersfield to face the Bakersfield Roadrunners in a non-conference doubleheader at Roadrunner Softball Complex. First pitch between the longtime Division II rivals is slated for 1 p.m. Following the trip to Bakersfield, CSUN resumes league play with a Big West Conference series at home against UC Santa Barbara. The Matadors and Gauchos will play a doubleheader on Saturday, April 12, followed by a single game on Sunday, April 13. Both days are slated to being at noon at Matador Diamond. April 7, 2014 Brianna Elder Named Big West Pitcher of the Week After allowing just one earned run in 14 innings to help lead the Cal State Northridge softball team to a series victory over UC Davis, junior Brianna Elder earned Big West Pitcher of the Week honors the league office announced Monday. Elder went 2-0 with two complete game victories and did not allow a run over her final 13 innings of work against the Aggies.
April 6, 2014 Brianna Elder, CSUN Blank UC Davis 4-0 to Capture Big West Series Junior Brianna Elder won her 17th game of the season by tossing a complete game shutout as the Cal State Northridge softball team (25-14, 3-3 Big West) defeated UC Davis 4-0 Sunday afternoon. At the plate, senior Leann Lopez blasted her first home run of the season and Katie Hooper had two hits as the Matadors captured their first series against the Aggies since 2009.
April 5, 2014 Matadors Split Doubleheader with UC Davis The Cal State Northridge softball team (24-14, 2-3 Big West) defeated UC Davis 5-1 before falling to the Aggies in the nightcap 5-4 Saturday in a Big West Conference doubleheader at Matador Diamond. Brianna Elder tossed a complete game and Kaitlin Toerner had two RBIs in the game one victory. In game two, the Matadors nearly mounted a late rally, but left the tying run on third to end the game.
April 3, 2014 Matadors Return Home to Host UC Davis in Big West Series The Cal State Northridge softball team (23-13. 1-2 Big West) hosts its first Big West Conference series of the 2014 season this weekend with a three-game slate against the UC Davis Aggies. The two teams will play a doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday, April 5, and then play a single game on Sunday, April 6 also beginning at noon. March 30, 2014 Matadors Fall in Extra Innings at Cal Poly The Cal State Northridge softball team (23-13, 1-2 Big West) lost 6-5 in nine innings to Cal Poly Sunday afternoon at Bob Janssen Field. The Matadors struck early and led 4-1, but the Mustangs fought back and eventually took the win and claimed the series. At the plate, Madison Fleming went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a double.
March 29, 2014 Fleming's Double Lifts CSUN Softball to Extra-Inning Victory at Cal Poly The Cal State Northridge softball team (23-12, 1-1 Big West) split a doubleheader with Cal Poly Saturday afternoon in both teams' Big West Conference opener Saturday afternoon at Bob Janssen Field. After falling 1-0 in game one, CSUN won 2-1 in 12 innings in game two to split the doubleheader. Madison Fleming blasted a two-run double to left in the top of the 12th and Daphne Pofek tossed six innings of relief work to earn the victory.
March 27, 2014 Glover's Heroics Help Lead CSUN to San Diego Split The Cal State Northridge softball team (22-11) defeated San Diego 4-2 and lost 5-0 to San Diego State in a pair of non-conference games at SDSU Softball Stadium in San Diego Wednesday evening. Freshman Taylor Glover blasted a two-out, two-run home run in the top of the seventh after Kaitlin Toerner tied the game with an RBI single as the Matadors rallied to defeat the Toreros.
March 25, 2014 Matadors Travel to San Diego, Cal Poly for Five-Game Slate The Cal State Northridge softball team (21-10) plays five games this week, all of which send the Matadors out on the road. On Wednesday, Mar. 26, the Matadors play a doubleheader in San Diego State at SDSU Softball Stadium. In the first fame, CSUN will face San Diego in a neutral-site contest at 5 p.m. Following the game with the Toreros, the Matadors will face the host Aztecs at 7 p.m. Following the trip to San Diego, the Matadors open the 2014 Big West Conference season with a series at Cal Poly. On Saturday, Mar. 29, CSUN and the Mustangs meet in a doubleheader at Bob Janssen Field starting at noon. The following the day, the two teams meet in a single game at noon. March 24, 2014 Matadors Rebound with Pair of Victories Sunday The Cal State Northridge softball team (21-10) defeated Pacific 7-5 and Bakersfield 4-2 Sunday in a pair of non-conference contests at Matador Diamond. Freshman Taylor Glover, the Big West Player of the Week, continued her hot play by collecting five hits and five RBIs while extending her hitting streak to 15 games. In the circle, Jordan Sauceda and Daphne Pofek each recorded wins while Pofek nailed down the Bakersfield win for her second career save.
March 22, 2014 Matadors Fall 4-1 to Pacific The Cal State Northridge softball team (19-10) lost 4-1 to Pacific Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game at Matador Diamond. Taylor Nate and Abby Linn each had two hits for CSUN, but a late three-run home run lifted the visiting Tigers to the win and snapped the Matadors' six-game winning streak.
March 21, 2014 Matadors Extend Winning Streak to Six with Win vs. Bakersfield The Cal State Northridge softball team (19-9) defeated Bakersfield 5-2 Friday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Matador Diamond. Brianna Elder recorded her 14th win of the season, Daphne Pofek posted her first career save and Taylor Glover and Katie Hooper each had two RBIs for the Matadors.
March 20, 2014 Elder, CSUN Remain Sharp in Victory over Harvard Junior Brianna Elder picked up her 13th win and 11th complete game of the season as the Cal State Northridge softball team (18-9) defeated Harvard 4-1 Thursday afternoon at Matador Diamond. At the plate, Taylor Glover belted her fourth triple of the season, three other Matadors recorded RBIs and the Matadors improved to 9-1 at home this season.
March 19, 2014 Matadors Host Harvard, Bakersfield & Pacific in Softball Action The Cal State Northridge softball team (17-9) return home to Matador Diamond for five games this weekend. CSUN will face three teams over the weekend while also hosting neutral-site contests between the visiting squads: Bakersfield, Harvard and Pacific. The Matadors open the weekend with a 2:30 p.m. contest against the Harvard Crimson on Thursday, March 20. The next day, Mar. 21, CSUN squares off with its historical rival Bakersfield Roadrunners at 2 p.m. On Saturday, Mar. 23, the Matadors renew acquaintances at 2 p.m. with former Big West Conference rival Pacific. Finally, on Sunday, Mar. 23, the Matadors take on Pacific (11:30 a.m.) and Bakersfield (2 p.m.). There will be three games Friday-Sunday and all contests will be played at Matador Diamond. March 17, 2014 Brianna Elder, Taylor Glover Earn Big West Softball Weekly Awards Cal State Northridge junior Brianna Elder was named Big West Pitcher of the Week while freshman centerfielder Taylor Glover was named Big West Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Elder went 2-0 with one save and a 0.55 ERA in three games last week while Glover batted .533 with three runs scored, five RBIs and two stolen bases.
March 15, 2014 Matadors Continue Torrid Play with Doubleheader Sweep at LMU The Cal State Northtirdge softball team (17-9) defeated LMU 9-1 (five innings) and 7-5 in a non-conference doubleheader at Loyola Marymount Saturday afternoon. The Matadors brought their offense to the diamond Saturday, clubbing 23 hits in the two victories to give them wins in 11 of their last 12 games.
March 12, 2014 Matadors Deliver Pair of Walk-Off Wins over Utah State The Cal State Northridge softball team (15-9) took both ends of a doubleheader with Utah State Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Aggies 2-1 and 5-4 (8 innings) at Matador Diamond. Brianna Elder and Daphne Pofek delivered tough performances in the circle to help CSUN continue its torrid play at home.

Junior Brianna Elder recorded her 10th win and had six strikeouts in downing Oregon State for the second time this year.
March 8, 2014 Matadors Run Win Streak to Six With Pair of Victories Saturday The Cal State Northridge softball team (12-8) defeated Georgetown 2-1 and Grand Canyon 8-1 Saturday in a pair of non-conference contests at Matador Diamond. The Matadors got solid pitching performances from Daphne Pofek and Brianna Elder and the offense clicked for eight runs and nine hits in the second win over the Antelopes.
March 7, 2014 CSUN Softball Defeats Grand Canyon to Open Weekend Slate A pair of runs in the first inning was all the Cal State Northridge softball team (10-8) needed to defeat Grand Canyon 2-0 in a non-conference game at Matador Diamond. Junior Brianna Elder tossed her second career shutout, striking out six and allowing just four hits as the Matadors opened their five-game weekend with a victory over the Antelopes.
March 6, 2014 Matadors Host Five Home Games as Part of CSUN/UCLA Invitational The Cal State Northridge softball team (9-8) has a busy weekend ahead as it plays five games at Matador Diamond as part of the CSUN/UCLA Invitational. All three days of the event (Mar. 6-8) will feature three games per day at Matador Diamond, though CSUN may not be playing in all those contests. March 2, 2014 CSUN Softball Defeats Portland State, Rutgers in Home Opener The Cal State Northridge softball team (9-8) defeated Portland State 5-3 and Rutgers 7-5 in its 2014 home-opening doubleheader Sunday at Matador Diamond. After batting the rain all weekend, all three teams were able to play twice Sunday and salvage what had been a long weekend.

February 27, 2014 CSUN Softball Welcomes Portland State, Rutgers for Homestand The Cal State Northridge softball team (7-8) hosts Portland State and Rutgers in a three-day slate of softball games at Matador Diamond from Feb. 27-Mar. 1. This is the fifth-straight year that the Matadors are beginning their season in Arizona and will face a series of challenging opponents to start the season. Tickets for the event are $45 and the event, which includes dinner and a silent auction, will start at 6 p.m.

October 14, 2013 Lovie Jung Named CSUN Softball Volunteer Assistant Coach The Cal State Northridge softball program has added former US Olympian Lovie Jung to its staff as the Volunteer Assistant Coach for the 2014 season. A member of the 2004 and 2008 US Olympic teams, Jung will work with Matador infielders and hitters in addition to administrative responsibilities.

August 7, 2013 Softball Advanced Camp Set for August 25th The Cal State Northridge Softball team will hold an advanced camp at Matador Diamond on August 25, 2013. The camp, which is open to all players in grades 7 through 12, will simulate a typical Northridge Softball practice day and allow players to work closely with CSUN staff and student-athletes.

May 14, 2013 Three Matadors Named to 2013 All-Big West Softball Team Seniors Mikayla Thielges and Shelly Tait and freshman Maylynn Mitchell were named to the 2013 All-Big West Conference Softball Team per a vote of the conference's head coaches, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. Thielges earned her second career All-Big West award, placing on the second team. Tait and Mitchell were recognized for the first time and received honorable mention awards.
May 11, 2013 Matadors Fall 8-2 to Titans in Season Finale The Cal State Northridge softball team (25-31, 11-13 Big West) lost 8-2 to Cal State Fullerton Saturday afternoon in the Matadors' final game of the 2013 season. Abby Linn and Tiffini Lucero each had RBI base hits for the Matadors, but a seven-run Titan fifth was too much to overcome.
May 11, 2013 Pagano Leads Matadors to Doubleheader Split with Titans The Cal State Northridge softball team (25-30, 11-12 Big West) lost 4-0 and won 2-1 in a Big West Conference doubleheader with Cal State Fullerton Friday evening at Anderson Family Field. After dropping a 4-0 decision, senior Mia Pagano carried a one-hit shutout into the bottom of the seventh in game two before CSUN ultimately prevailed 2-1.

May 5, 2012 Matadors Drop Both Ends of Saturday Doubleheader at UC Riverside The Cal State Northridge softball team (10-38, 5-12 Big West) lost twice to UC Riverside Saturday afternoon in a Big West doubleheader at Amy S. Harrison Field. In game one, the CSUN offense could not support a strong start from Mia Pagano and lost 1-0. In game two, the Matadors came back from four runs down to tie the contest, but UCR scored a two-out run in the fifth to sweep the doubleheader.

April 28, 2012 Matadors and Titans Split Saturday Twinbill The Cal State Northridge softball team (10-35, 5-9 Big West) split a Big West Conferene doubleheader with Cal State Fullerton Saturday afternoon at Matador Diamond. In game one, CSUN slugged its way to a 5-2 victory behind four doubles, a home run and a solid pitching performance from Mia Pagano. In game two, Mikayla Thielges hit her seventh home run of the season to give CSUN an early lead, but the Titans responded with three home runs of their own to take a 7-2 victory.

March 27, 2012 Busy Week Has CSUN Hosting Oregon State, Traveling to Pacific to Open Big West Play The Cal State Northridge softball team (5-21) has a busy week ahead as it plays five times, including its first Big West Conference series of the season. On Wednesday, Mar. 28, the Matadors host Oregon State in a doubleheader at Matador Diamond beginning at 1 p.m. Over the weekend, CSUN then heads North to Stockton, Calif., to face the Pacific Tigers in a three-game series. March 10, 2012 Matadors Fall 5-2 to Harvard at Northridge Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (5-18) lost 5-2 to Harvard Saturday afternoon at the Northridge Classic at Matador Diamond. Six different Matadors had a hit and Crystal Maas picked up her first career RBI, but Harvard scored four runs in the first two innings to get its second win of the weekend over CSUN.
March 9, 2012 Matadors Split First Day at Northridge Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (5-17) defeated Maine, 2-1, and lost to Harvard, 3-0, Friday in its first day at the Northridge Classic held at Matador Diamond. In the win over the Black Bears, Mia Pagano tossed a complete game and and allowed one unearned run to lead CSUN to a 2-1 victory. Against the Crimson, Rachel Brown fanned 13 Matadors and alowed only three hits as Harvard won 3-0.
March 6, 2012 CSUN Opens 2012 Home Season with Northridge Classic at Matador Diamond The Cal State Northridge softball team (4-16) hosts its 2012 home opener as part of the Northridge Classic. March 4, 2012 Matadors Fall 3-2 to San Diego The Cal State Northridge softball team (4-16) lost 3-2 to San Diego Sunday afternoon in Santee Calif., at the San Diego Classic I. The Matadors jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the Toreros tied things in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run and scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth to take the contest.
March 3, 2012 Matadors Win Pair Saturday at San Diego Classic I The Cal State Northridge softball team (4-15) defeated Utah State and Nevada at the San Diego Classic I in Santee, Calif. on Saturday. The Matadors had outstanding pitching on the day, as Brianna Elder won her career debut against Utah State and Mia Pagano tied a career high with eight strikeouts against Nevada.
March 2, 2012 CSUN Topples Fresno State in First Day at San Diego Classic I The Cal State Northridge softball team (2-15) split its its first day at the San Diego Classic I in Santee, Calif., at the Santee Sportsplex. In its first game of the day, CSUN could not hold off a BYU rally and lost 4-1. In the second game, Northridge jumped out to an early lead and held on to defeat Fresno State, 8-5.
March 1, 2012 Matadors Venture South for San Diego Classic I in Santee, Calif. The Cal State Northridge softball team (1-14) travels to Santee, Calif., to participate in the San Diego Classic I hosted by San Diego State. At the tournament, CSUN’s five games will feature contests with BYU, Fresno State, Utah State, Nevada and San Diego. February 26, 2012 Matadors Wrap Up Time at 2012 Cathedral City Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (1-14) concluded its time at the 2012 Cathedral City Classic. In their two games Sunday, the Matadors lost 7-0 to No. 1 California and 7-1 to San Diego State. Mikayla Thielges had CSUN's only RBI on the day, giving her a team-leading eighth on the season.
February 25, 2012 Matadors Defeat Iowa 1-0 in Eight Innings The Cal State Northridge softball team (1-12) defeated Iowa 1-0 in eight innings Saturday evening at the Cathedral City Classic. In extra innings, Samantha Sloniker executed a sac bunt and Madeline Sale delivered a Sac Fly to propel the Matadors to their first win of the season.
February 23, 2012 Northridge Loses to Boise State, No. 8 Texas at Cathedral City Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-12) lost twice Thursday at the 2012 Cathedral City Classic In the first game, CSUN held an early lead and was tied 3-3 headed into the seventh before Boise State pushed two runs across on a home run to take a 5-3 victory. In the nightcap, the Matadors lost their fifth game of the young season to a ranked opponent, falling 4-0 to the eighth-ranked Texas Longhorns.
February 22, 2012 Matadors Hit the Road for 2012 Cathedral City Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-10) remains on the road this weekend with a five-game slate at the prestigious Cathedral City Classic. The event, which is hosted by Oregon State, features teams from across the United States, including nationally ranked squads from Florida and Georgia. During their time in the California desert, the Matadors will take on teams Boise State, No. 8 Texas, Iowa, No. 1 California and future Big West Conference member San Diego State. All contests will be held at Big League Dreams Sports Park in Cathedral City, Calif.
February 21, 2012 Fun Had by All at Northridge-USSSA Pride Community Event The Cal State Northridge softball program and the USSSA Pride, a team that competes in the National Pro Fastpitch league, participated in a community event at Matador Diamond Tuesday afternoon to promote the game of softball to the surrounding communities. A large crowd of fans of all ages watched the two teams compete in a variety of game simulations and were able to get autographs from both teams following the contest.
February 19, 2012 Matadors Finish Time in Las Vegas at UNLV Lousiville Slugger Desert Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-10) lost twice Saturday, to No. 25 LSU and Hawai'i, and to Utah Sunday to wrap up its time at the UNLV Louisville Slugger Desert Classic in Las Vegas. Leann Lopez had a nice weekend for Northridge, hitting her first career double and picking up a two-hit performance against the Rainbow Wahine.
February 17, 2012 Thielges Homers Twice in Matadors' First Day in Las Vegas The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-7) lost 12-9 to Utah State and 11-1 to BYU Friday in its opening games at the UNLV Louisville Slugger Desert Classic in Las Vegas. Against Utah State, Mikayla Thielges hit two home runs and finished with three runs scored and three RBIs, but the Matadors could not rally in the end.
February 15, 2012 Northridge Heads to Sin City to Compete in UNLV Louisville Slugger Desert Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-5) heads to Las Vegas, Nev., this weekend to participate in the UNLV Louisville Slugger Desert Classic. Northridge will look to pick up its first victory of the season against a slate of five opponents that includes No. 24 LSU, BYU and future Big West member Hawai’i. Sandwiched around those three games are contests versus two schools, Utah and Utah St.
February 12, 2012 No. 8 Arizona Downs CSUN 8-0 The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-5) lost 8-0 in six innings to No. 8 Arizona Sunday afternoon at Farrington Stadium as part of the Kajikawa Classic. Jessica Fridwall, Alyssa Ray and Adrienne Martinez had base hits for the Matadors, but the Wildcats jumped out to an early lead and eventually posted the run-rule victory.

The Matadors took an early lead before ultimately falling 10-2 in six innings to No. 20 Nebraska. In the second game, Northridge fell behind early and lost 9-0 in five innings to Western Michigan.
February 10, 2012 Matadors Fall Twice on Opening Day at Kajikawa Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team (0-2) lost twice Friday at the Kajikawa Classic. In game one, Korinne Randazzo blasted a solo home run, but No. 9 Stanford posted 13-1 five-inning victory. In the nightcap, Mikayla Thielges connected on a two-run blast, but Syracuse posted a 10-2 six-inning victory.
February 8, 2012 Northridge Opens 2012 Campaign with Five-Game Slate at ASU’s Kajikawa Classic The Cal State Northridge softball team starts its 2012 season with five games in Tempe, Ariz., as part of the Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State University. The Matadors will certainly get a tough test right out of the gates as they will play five teams that qualified for the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Among the five teams, CSUN will also face three teams that appeared in the preseason rankings (Stanford, Nebraska, Arizona) and one squad that received votes (Syracuse). She knows she left them for her nearly two-year-old son Jayce to start honing his craft at the family trade, but now she can’t find them.
