NORTHRIDGE, Calif. ---
The Cal State Northridge women's soccer team has named Colleen Augustine as an assistant coach for the upcoming 2014 season. A standout goalkeeper for Oregon State and in two professional women's soccer leagues, Augustine brings a wealth of talent and experience to the position and will work primarily with the Matador goalkeepers in addition to administrative responsibilities.
"We are excited to add someone of Colleen's stature and character to our program," CSUN head coach Keith West said. "She has played and excelled at the highest levels of soccer and will bring out the best in our student-athletes with her drive and tenacity."
A 2012 graduate of Oregon State, Augustine was a 2010 NSCAA All-American and earned All-Region and All-Pac 12 First Team honors. She also helped lead the Beavers to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2009.
Following her time at Oregon State, Augustine played a season with the New York Flash of the Women's Professional Soccer League and won the league championship. The following year, she played for the Boston Breakers of the National Women's Soccer League.
She also brings coaching experience from some time in Baton Rouge, La., with Capital City United SC as the U15 girls head coach. She was also the boys and girls varsity soccer head coach at Redemptorist High School for the 2013-14 season.
Augustine and the Matadors will open the 2014 season sometime in August. The complete in 2014 schedule will be released shortly.
