Margo Dionisio Advances to U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship

Cal State Northridge sophomore Margo Dionisio shot a round of 73 in a Sectional Qualifier at Goose Creek G.C. in Mira Loma, Calif. and has advanced to the the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship June 27-July 2.
Dionisio was one of 14 players to advance from the Sectional Qualifier at Goose Creek G.C. She tied for seventh in the qualifier with a round of 73 but was just two shots behind Brittany Mai who finished with a round of 71.
"Margo played a pretty flawless round and we hope she continues to play well and advances," said head coach Bonnie Murphy.
Dionisio advances to the Women's Amateur Public Links Championship which will take place June 27 though July 2 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore. The Championship will feature two rounds of stroke play then match play.
Other Matadors have had success at the U.S. Women's PubLinks as Beth Allen (2000-04) reached the semifinals at Ocean Hammock G.C. (Palm Coast, Fla.) in 2003 before falling to Virada Nirapathpongporn 5 and 4. Nirapathpongporn then lost in the final to future LPGA star Michelle Wie.
Lucy Davies (2004-08) made the reached the stroke play round in 2008.
Dionisio finished her sophomore season with a 78.65 scoring average and she now ranks second to Allen in career scoring at Cal State Northridge with a 78.27 career stroke average.
