Matadors Post 16-Stroke Improvement from First to Second Round, Remain 17th in Hawai'i

Kaneohe, Hawai'i - Cal State Northridge posted a 16-stroke improvement from round one to round two and is in 17th-place after two rounds of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Kaneohe Klipper G.C.

The Matadors carded an opening round 329 Monday morning but shaved 17 shots to post a second round 313 in the afternoon. Northridge carries a team score of 642 into Tuesday's final round. Arizona State (586) leads the team competition while the Matadors are six shots behind Gonzaga (636) for 15th place in the 19-team tournament.

Kylie Kimura is the highest Northridge golfer after two rounds as the junior is tied for 61st at (+15) 159. Kimura carded an opening round (+10) 82 but rebounded to shoot a five over-par 77 in round two.

Senior Ashlee Nagamine is one shot behind Kimura as she is tied for 66th at (+16) 160. Like Kimura, Nagamine struggled in the opening round posting a (+11) 83 but also carded a second round 77 to move up 10 spots on the leaderboard.

Sophomore Margo Dionisio, who's first round nine over-par 81 led the Matadors, carded a second round (+8) 80 and is tied for 70th at (+17) 161. Ellen Krausse and Maurissa Medina are both tied for 78th at (+20) 164. Krausse posted rounds of 85-79 while Medina finished with rounds of 83-81.

The final 18 holes is scheduled for Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. HT.
