Matadors Post 14-Shot Improvement to Move into 13th Place at Bruin Wave Invitational

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge women's golf team posted a 14-shot improvement over Monday's opening round as the Matadors moved up from 15th to 13th place after two rounds of the Bruin Wave Invitational at Robinson Ranch G.C.
Northridge (620) carded a team round of 317 on Monday but improved to a 303 on Tuesday to move past Oregon State (621) and into a tie with Long Beach State (620) for 13th. Top-ranked UCLA leads the tournament with an even-par 576, Pepperdine and USC are four strokes back at 580 and Arizona State and Arizona are six shots back at 582.
After shooting just two rounds in the 70's on Monday, all five Matador golfers finished in the 70's on Tuesday.
Ashlee Nagamine, who began the day in a tie for 49th place after a first round 77, improved to a 74 on Tuesday and is tied for 38th at (+7) 151. Freshmen Clariss Guce and Tammy Panich are a stroke apart as Guce is tied for 61st and Panich is tied for 65th. Guce (+12, 156) followed up a 79 on Monday with a 77 on Tuesday while Panich (+13, 157) improved from an 80 on Monday to a 77 on Tuesday.
The Matadors also got improvement from Margo Dionisio and Maurissa Medina. Dionisio began the day in a tie for 88th after an 84 but fired a 75 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 72nd at (+15) 159. Medina moved up two spots and is also tied for 72nd at (+15) 159 after a second round 78.
The third and final round is on Wednesday at the par-72 Robinson Ranch Golf Club.
