Matadors, Molyneux Within Striking Distance After Round One at Cal Poly Invitational

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge sits fifth while junior Remylee Molyneux is tied for 16th-place after the opening round of the Cal Poly Invitational Monday at Cypress Ridge G.C.

As a team, the Matadors nearly matched their team season-low for 18 holes as CSUN posted a score of 311. CSUN's season-low team round of 308 came in the final round of the SCU Colby Classic last week. The Matadors trail team-leading Northern Arizona (301) by just 10 strokes heading into Tuesday's final round.

Molyneux, who is seeking her second top-20 finish in five fall tournaments, is currently tied for 16th at three over-par 76. Despite being tied for 16th, Molyneux is only five shots behind a trio of players who share the lead at two under-par 71.

Clariss Guce, who has been CSUN's most consistent player over the last month, is just outside the top-20 as the junior is tied for 21st at four over 77. Margo Dionisio is tied for 26th at five over 78 to round out three Matadors among the top-26 players.

Sophomore Sharon Shin is tied for 38th after an opening round seven over 80 and Alanna Loyd is tied for 63rd at (+11) 84.

The final round is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m.
