Box Score

FRESNO, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge women's basketball team (1-8) lost, 68-29, to Fresno State Tuesday night at the Save Mart Center. Junior Katrina Thompson set a new season high with eight rebounds against the Bulldogs.

Thompson added four points on 2-of-4 shooting from the field. Senior Ashley Blake led the Matadors with five points in the defeat. Northridge finished the game shooting 19.7 percent from the field, hitting only 12-of-61 shots.

Early in the first half, Northridge employed a zone defense that forced Fresno State to shoot from outside. Unfortunately, four of the Bulldogs' five first field goals were 3-point baskets. Behind their 3-point shooting, the Bulldogs took a 30-11 lead into halftime. The 11 points were the fewest by Northridge in a half this season.

Three players finished with 12 points for Fresno State: Bailey Amundsen, Jaleesa Ross and Marnique Arnold.

The game was officiated by only two referees in the first half, causing much consternation from both benches.

The Matadors take a break from action to complete their finals and wrap up the semester. They return to action when they head to Las Vegas to compete in the UNLV Desert Classic.

On Dec. 19, CSUN faces UNLV at 3:30 p.m. and then face either Southern Mississippi or Oklahoma State depending on the outcome of their game. Dave Caldwell will provide play-by-play coverage of both contests, available free on
