Jose Luis Garcia joins the Matadors' coaching staff for his first season in 2013. He assumes the responsibility of Director of Soccer Operations after spending two seasons as a midfielder and defender for the Matadors.


Garcia competed in 20 matches for the Matadors in 2012. He scored one goal and had two assists for four points. The senior scored against Army and had assists on the road at Loyola University Maryland and Cal State Fullerton. He took a total of 12 shots with three on goal playing as both a midfielder and defender.


Garcia saw action in 10 matches in his first season with the Matadors. He had two assists and two points and also took six shots, five of which were on goal (.833). Garcia had two assists against then-No. 7 UCLA (10/22), setting up the equalizing and game-winning goals as the Matadors beat the Bruins 3-2 and won on the road against UCLA for the first time in school history.


Garcia competed for the Moorpark Raiders from 2008-09 as a left back. He was named a team captain in 2009 and led the squad in scoring. Garcia was also named to the All-Western Conference First Team both seasons.


Garcia played soccer for the Parrots of Frances Polytechnic High School (Sun Valley, Calif.) in 2007-08 as a midfielder. He was a team captain both years and graduated in 2008.
