NORTHRIDGE, Calif. –
Cal State Northridge sophomore forward Thomas Ramos has been named the Big West Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Ramos scored a goal and had an assist in Northridge's 2-2 draw at #22 CSU Bakersfield on September 15.
In the match against the Roadrunners, Ramos scored his first goal of the season when he took a pass from Carlos Benavides in the 44th minute and scored from eight yards out. The goal cut Northridge's deficit to 2-1 just before halftime.
In the second half, Ramos again had a hand in the scoring as he got the ball off of a CSUN corner kick and passed to teammate Brian Behrad, who scored from inside the box to tie the match at two goals apiece. Northridge would hold on for the draw to break a streak of six-straight overtime losses.
The goal and assist were the first career points for the Phoenix, Ariz. native and his performance was the first of its kind since teammate Gustavo Villalobos had a goal and an assist on Oct. 2, 2010 at Cal State Fullerton.
