Kyler Sauer Earns Spot on 2014 All-Big West Men's Golf Team

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge senior Kyler Sauer was named to the 2014 All-Big West Men's Golf Team as announced by the conference office Wednesday, May 7.

Sauer, a senior from Thousand Oaks, Calif., had his best season as a Matador in 2013-14 as he led the team with a 72.7 scoring average. He competed in all 11 tournaments this season compiling 2,254 strokes over his team-high 31 rounds. His season scoring average ranks sixth in a single season in Matador history.

He also led the squad with six top-10 finishes to go with a pair of top-20 finishes. Sauer capped his final season by finishing in a tie for second at the Big West Championship, the best finish by a CSUN men's golfer since Nick Delio also finished second in 2011.

"Kyler really came into his own this season," said CSUN head coach Jim Bracken. "It really started for him this spring, he was comfortable and put up better scores. His scoring average shows the caliber of his play so it's definitely well deserved and I'm very happy for him."

After not having a player named all-conference in 2012-13, Sauer becomes the 21st CSUN player to earn All-Big West honors since 2002-03.
