Matadors 16th After 36 Holes at Season Opening St. Mary's Invitational

SEASIDE, Calif. - Cal State Northridge opened up the 2013-14 season Monday with the first two rounds of the Saint Mary's Invitational held at Bayonet & Blackhorse Golf Courses.

The Matadors opened with a team round of 307 as senior Ryan Green was in the top-10 through 18 holes after carding an even-par 72.

Sitting 15th after the morning round, CSUN posted a three stroke improvement in the afternoon's second round with a 304 but slipped one spot to 16th in the team chase. Senior Kyler Sauer was the Matadors' leading scorer in the second round after equaling Green's 72.

Green leads CSUN through two rounds as he is tied for 35th at six over-par 150. After his opening round72, the senior posted a second round of six-over 78.

Junior Dodge Ward, playing in his first tournament as a Matador, is two shots back of Green as he is tied for 49th at eight-over 152. Ward, a transfer from Santa Barbara City College, posted consecutive rounds of (+4) 76.

Junior Steven Molumby, opening his third season at CSUN, is tied for 67th at (+10) 154 following rounds of 76-78. Kyler Sauer, last season's low scorer for the Matadors, is tied for 77th at (+11) 155 following rounds of 83-72 and Oscar Sachs sits 103rd at (+24) 168 after rounds of 85-83.
