Matadors in Ninth After Two Rounds at Del Walker Intercollegiate

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Cal State Northridge struggled to an opening round 311 but rebounded to shoot 299 in round two but is in ninth place as a team after two rounds of the Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia C.C.

The Matadors (610) fell well off the pace after the opening round but were able to make up some ground on the field in round two. Pacific leads the team chase with a two-round score of 556, eight strokes ahead of second place Long Beach State. CSUN is 14 shots behind eighth-place UNC-Wilmington heading into Tuesday's final round.

No Matador player is in the top-20 through 36 holes as Ryan Green is tied for 30th to pace CSUN. Green opened with a two over-par 72 before posting a six over 76 in the second round. Green is tied for 30th with a host of players at eight over 148.

The Matadors have a team of five along with a trio of individuals playing in the tournament. Steven Molumby, one of the individuals, is tied for 38th at (+10) 150 following rounds of 78-72.

The rest of of the Matador starting five is currently in the lower half of the field. Oscar Sachs is is tied for 43rd at (+13) 153 following rounds of 79-74, Kyler Sauer is 51st at (+15) 155 after scores of 80-75, Matt Siporin is 53rd at (+18) 158 following rounds of 84-74 and Zach Leonard is tied for 54th at (+20) 160 after consecutive rounds of 80.

CSUN's other two individuals, Nick Sarian and Shane Blanchard are 54th and 57th respectively. Sarian posted rounds of 79-81 (+20, 160) while Blanchard carded scores of 87-81 (+28, 168).

Tuesday's final round gets underway with tee times off holes #1 and #10 beginning at 8 a.m.
