Stephen Maxwell (L), Josh Greene Named Honorable Mention All-Big West Conference

Irvine, Calif. – Josh Greene and Stephen Maxwell, two valuable members of the Cal State Northridge basketball team, were honored for their excellent play during the 2012-13 season by being named Honorable Mention on the All-Big West Conference team.

Greene, a junior guard, enjoyed his best season this year averaging 14.5 ppg, third-best on the Matadors and 11th-best in the league. Greene hit a team-leading 63 three-pointers, fourth-best for a single season in the 55-year history of Matador basketball. Greene led the Big West Conference in free throw percentage (.858, 121-for-141). Greene set a school record with 33 straight free throws to break the old record of 32 by Markus Carr in 2000-01.

In the season finale against Hawai'i (3/7/13), Greene scored a career-high 37 points, the seventh-best scoring effort for a single game in school history. Greene also dished out a career-high 13 assists against Eastern Washington (11/12/12).

Greene also ranked fourth in the conference in steals (1.7 spg).

Maxwell, a sophomore forward, also enjoyed his best season in a Matador uniform. Maxwell, the only CSUN player to start all 31 games, averaged 14.6 ppg (#2 on the Matadors, #10 in the BWC) and 8.3 rebounds per game (#1 on the Matadors, #3 in the BWC).

Maxwell scored in double figures of 23 games. That included career-highs in points (27) and rebounds (14) at UC Santa Barbara (1/24/13).

Maxwell led the Matadors in shooting percentage at .556 (173-for-311), third-best in the Big West Conference. In the last 19 games of the 2012-13 season, Maxwell averaged 16.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

Also named Honorable Mention were J.T. Adenrele (UC Davis), Kyle Boswell (UC Santa Barbara), Adam Folker (UC Irvine), Tony Freeland (Long Beach State), Vander Joaquim (Hawai'i), Keala King (Long Beach State), Chris Patton (UC Riverside), Dylan Royer (Cal Poly) and Ryan Sypkens (UC Davis).

First Team All-Big West honors were accorded to Mike Caffey (Long Beach State), James Ennis (Long Beach State), Chris Eversley (Cal Poly), Corey Hawkins (UC Davis), Chris Standhardinger (Hawai'i) and Alan Williams (UC Santa Barbara). Ennis was named Big West Player of the Year.

Second Team All-Big West honors were accorded to Travis Fulton (Pacific), Lorenzo McCloud (Pacific), D.J. Seeley (Cal State Fullerton), Daman Starring (UC Irvine) and Kwame Vaughn (Cal State Fullerton).

James Ennis (Long Beach State) was named Big West Player of the Year. Corey Hawkins (UC Davis) was named 2012-13 Big West Newcomer of the Year. Alex Young (UC Irvine) and Isaac Fotu (Hawai'i) were named 2012-13 Co-Freshman of the Year.

Dan Monson (Long Beach State) was named 2012-13 Big West Coach of the Year.

In the 92-86 win at Cal State Fullerton (1/31/13), scored a game-high 24 points along with a career-high ten rebounds, four assists and three steals ... Greene hit seven free throws in the final 48 seconds to insure the win at CSF ... Hit two critical three-pointers with 11:31 to play to propel CSUN to a 70-61 victory over UC Irvine (2/7/13) ... Tops in the Big West Conference in free throw shooting (.858, 121-for-141) ... Ranks third all-time at CSUN with an .843 career free throw percentage ... Set a school record with 33 straight free throws to break the old record of 32 set by Markus Carr (2000-01) ... Dished out 112 assists (3.7 apg) compared to only 64 turnovers, eighth-best in the conference ... Has dished out 245 career assists, tenth-best in school history ... Also ranked fourth in the BWC in steals (1.7 spg) ...Greene hit a team-leading 63 three-pointers, fourth-best for a single year in school history ... Greene's 150 career three-pointers is third-best in school history ... Has scored 990 points in his three-year career at CSUN, only ten short of becoming only the 16th player in school history to score 1,000 or more points.

Honorable Mention All-Big West Conference ... The only CSUN player to start all 31 games ... Averaged 14.6 points (#2 on the Matadors, #10 in the BWC) and 8.3 rebounds per game (#1 on the Matadors, #3 in the BWC) ... Scored in double figures in 23 games ... The team's leading scorer in ten games including career-highs in points (27) and rebounds (14) at UC Santa Barbara (1/24/13) ... In the season finale, scored 24 points (8-for-12 from the floor) along with 13 rebounds in the 88-75 victory over Hawai'i (3/7/13) ... The team's leading rebounder in 16 games ... Collected eleven double-double games this year ... The team leader in shooting percentage at .556 (173-for-311, #3 in the BWC) ... Averaged 16.3 points (309 pts) and 9.2 rebounds (174 rebounds) in his last 19 games ... Second-best in the Big West Conference in offensive rebounds at 3.8 per game.
