The Week Ahead At Cal State Northridge ...
Matador Hoops looking good on the tube ... Bob Vazquez, Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, offers his weekly insights on the accomplishments of the teams, coaches, and student-athletes who compete for Cal State Northridge.

Television Talk ...
Last year, the Cal State Northridge men's basketball team was on television a school record eight times ... The Big West Conference television package is out for inspection for 2008-09, and the Matadors, pre-season favorites to win the conference title and advance to the NCAA Tournament, will be on television a minimum of five games plus a non-league game vs UCLA ... It all starts on Thursday, January 29, when the Matadors travel to UCSB for a league game on ESPNU ... Game time is 8:00 p.m. ... Two nights later (Jan. 31, 6:00 p.m.), Cal State Northridge travels to Cal Poly for a game to be televised on Fox Sports Prime Ticket ... The third telecast is slated for Saturday, February 14 (5:00 p.m.), when the Matadors host UC Riverside on Fox Sports Prime Ticket ... Then on Wednesday, February 18 (8:00 p.m.), CSUN travels to UC Irvine for a game also on Fox Sports Prime Ticket ... Fox Sports Prime Ticket makes another televised visit to The Matadome on Saturday, February 28 (3:00 p.m.), when Cal State Northridge hosts Long Beach State ... In addition, the Cal State Northridge-UCLA non-league game on Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. will be televised live on Fox Sports Prime Ticket ... There is also a possibility that a Matador game on Saturday, February 21, could be televised on ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN360.com as part of the ESPN Bracketbuster weekend ... In addition, the men's semifinal games (5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) on February, March 13, at the Big West Tournament, will be televised on ESPNU ... The Big West Championship game on Saturday, March 14, will be televised on ESPN 2 at 8:00 p.m. ... And, there is the possibility that several non-league road games involving Cal State Northridge will be regionally televised and available on satellite.

Fast Facts ...
The fourth national pre-season college basketball magazine hits the newstands this week, and don't be surprised to see the Cal State Northridge men's basketball team the choice of The Sporting News to capture the Big West title and advance to the NCAA Tournament ... Blue Ribbon College Basketball, Athlons and Lindy's magazines have all picked the Matadors to win the conference ... Official practice for both the men's and women's basketball teams starts on Friday (Oct. 17) ... Congratulations to Matador head women's volleyball coach Jeff Stork who will be inducted into the Pepperdine Hall of Fame on Nov. 2 ... In addition to helping lead the United States men's volleyball team to the gold medal in 1988, Stork enjoyed a distinguished career while an undergraduate at Pepperdine ... Stork earned All-American first team honors in each of his three seasons (1982-83-84) and helped the Waves to two NCAA runnerup finishes in 1983 and 1984 ... Stork also was the men's volleyball interim head caoch at Pepperdine in 2000, leading the team to the national semifinals ... Stork graduated from Pepperdine in 1985 with a degree in Physical Education.
