NESPY Ceremony Honors School Spirit at Cal State Northridge

Northridge, Calif. - School spirit is alive and well at Cal State Northridge.

Recently a large contingent of Matador student-athletes, coaches and school officials gathered together for the second annual NESPY Awards at Matador Spirit Plaza.

The reviews are in, and the ceremony was full of energy and fun.

"It was wonderful to see our teams, student-athletes and fans get together for an afternoon of recognition," said Matador athletic director Rick Mazzuto.

2010 Top Tutor of the Year - Lauren Michaels (Women's Track & Field)
2010 Most Valuable Student-Athlete - Kevin McNiff (Men's Volleyball)
2010 Lifetime Achievement Award - Dr. Eric Sletten (Team Doctor)
2010 Freshman of the Year - Tiana Webberley (Women's Track & Field)
2010 Most Spirited Matador Award - Spirit Team
2010 Mentor of the Year - Monica McFarland (Women's Volleyball)
2010 Freshman of the Year - Chris Russo (Men's Golf)

2010 Performance of the Year - Men's Volleyball participation at the 2010 NCAA Final Four
