Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Northridge junior goalkeeper Dana Harvey, UC Davis sophomore Carmen Eggert and UC Irvine senior Caitlin Haskell were selected Big West Women's Water Polo Tri-Players of the Week in helping their teams to conference success.
Harvey was key in helping the Matadors stay unbeaten in conference play with her defensive prowess against UC Santa Barbara (4/9/11). Harvey collected 17 saves in a narrow 8-7 victory against the Gauchos. Both teams entered the match tied for first place in the Big West. Cal State Northridge is now 3-0 while the Gauchos are 2-1.
Harvey has collected ten or more saves in three games this year including a career-high 21 saves against 13th-ranked Indiana (1/22/11) at the Michigan Invitational. Her season total of 162 saves (10.45 spg) is third-best in the Big West Conference.
Eggert scored seven of her team's 16 goals as UC Davis split a pair of conference matches against UC Irvine and Long Beach State. In a 9-7 loss to the Anteaters, Eggert tallied four goals. She tallied a hat trick in a 9-7 overtime victory against the 49ers, including a goal in each of the two three-minute overtime sessions.
Haskell notched a pair of goals in both road victories over UC Davis and Pacific, propelling UC Irvine to a 2-0 start in Big West play. She notched an insurance goal against the Aggies to preserve the 9-7 victory. Haskell provided three assists and two steals to further the Anteater cause for the week.
