Northridge, Calif. - After playing its first 20 games on the road, the Cal State Northridge women's water polo team finally plays its first home games of the 2009 season when CSUN hosts the Northridge-Mini Tournament on Tuesday at Matador Pool.
At 2:30 p.m., Cal State Northridge hosts Bucknell. At 4:30 p.m., the Matadors will play Occidental. The day will end at 6:30 p.m. when Bucknell faces Occidental.
The Matadors, 8-12, are coming off a successful weekend of play at the Cal Lutheran Invitational. Cal State Northridge enjoyed a 3-1 record during their two days of play. Sydney Sonoda led the Matador attack with nine goals in the four games. In a 15-9 victory over Cal Lutheran and a 12-5 decision over Cal State Monterey Bay, Sonoda scored four goals in each game.
Jessica Coy scored seven goals in the four games at the Cal Lutheran Invitational.
Nine Matador players have scored at least ten goals this year.
Junior goalkeeper Jillian Stapf is the new school record holder in career saves. In only two-plus seasons at CSUN, Stapf has collected 829 saves.
