The Matadors will face a Bruins team that is #1 in the nation, 10-0 on the year, and winners of three straight NCAA championships. Since the sport's inception in 1995, the Bruins have captured nine national championships, six of which are NCAA championships (first NCAA in 2001).
UCLA's offense features six players who have scored ten or more goals. Katie Rulon leads all UCLA scorers with 26 goals. Jillian Kraus has 21 goals.
Cal State Northridge also features a balanced attack. Sixteen Matador players have scored at least one goal with two players, Allison Brookes and Chelsea Curran, scoring in double figures, with 12 and ten goals, respectively.
Saturday's game will be the first of nine home games for the Matadors. The home slate includes games against #3 Stanford (4/4/08, 3:00 p.m.), #6 San Diego State (4/13/08, Noon), #14 Long Beach State (3/8/08, Noon) and #16 UC Santa Barbara (4/19/08, 10:00 a.m.).
