Irvine, Calif. - The 2010 honors for Cal State Northridge senior goalkeeper Jillian Stapf are already starting to roll in.
Based on her 42 saves in helping the Matadors to a 3-1 record and a fifth place finish at last weekend's UC San Diego Invitational, Stapf has been named Big West Conference Water Polo Player of the Week.
Her 42 saves included a season-high 16 against UC Santa Barbara, nine each in games against Cal State Bakersfield and Hartwick, and eight against Marist.
Stapf now has 1,078 career saves (school record) in her 3-plus seasons at Cal State Northridge.
Stapf has 66 saves for the 2010 season. Previous to the UCSD Invitational, Stapf had 24 saves in four games at the Cap Baptist Invitational.
Cal State Northridge now has 7-1 overall record and is ranked 13th in the nation.
Cal State Northridge travels to fifth-ranked UCLA on Saturday. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
