No. 15 CSUN Falls At No. 7 Arizona State

Tempe, Ariz. - The nationally-ranked Cal State Northridge women's water polo team continued its march through the nation's top 10 teams. On Saturday, the 15th-ranked Matadors faced seventh-ranked Arizona State in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) game, and the Sun Devils, much like the Arizona heat, scorched the Matadors defense for a 12-5 victory at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.

ASU's Katy Lawlor tied her career best with four goals including a pair of goals to open the game. The Sun Devils jumped to a 4-1 first period, and the Matadors tried but couldn't manage a comeback in falling to ASU.

Kristin McLaughlin scored two goals for the Matadors while Allison Brookes, Jessica Coy and Renee Gargiulo added a goal each. Jillian Stapf collected six saves in goal for Cal State Northridge.

Sunday at Noon at Matador Pool, the competition gets even tougher as the Matadors host fifth-ranked San Diego State. The Aztecs are 25-4 overall and beat the Matdors earlier this year, 11-6, at the UC San Diego Invitational.
