Northridge, Ca. - Four straight fourth period goals, including two by Jessica Coy, lifted the 14th-ranked Cal State Northridge women's water polo tam to a 10-6 victory over 15th-ranked UC Santa Barbara in a Big West Conference game on Saturday afternoon at Matador Pool.
The Matadors enjoyed a 6-4 lead going into the final period, but UCSB goals by Gillian Morgan with 7:30 left and Lizzie Rouleau with 6:21 on the clock tied the game at 6-6. However, the Matadors scored four straight goals at 6:11 by Coy, at 5:37 by Alison Pierce, Kirra Kylander at 5:37 and an insurance goal by Coy at 1:36.
Cal State Northridge raced to a 3-0 first period lead, and maintained a three-goal margin at halftime, 6-3.
Jillian Stapf, who leads the Big West Conference in saves per game, collected 14 against the Gauchos.
