Northridge, Calif. - Dayna Van Gorder scored three goals for the nationally-ranked Cal State Northridge women's water polo team, but second-ranked Stanford had too much offensive firepower as the second-ranked Cardinal recorded a 13-4 victory in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game on Friday afternoon at Matador Pool.
Van Gorder's first goal found the back of the Cardinal net at 3:17 of the first period after Stanford had taken a 2-0 lead.
Stanford then scored the next five goals to take a 7-1 halftime lead.
All-American Allison Brookes broke the Cardinal string of goals at 6:52 of the third period with her 35th tally of the season. However, Stanford put together another string of four goals to take an 11-2 lead after three periods.
