Nationally-Ranked CSUN Falls In Double Overtime To #11 UC Davis, 6-5

Northridge, Calif. - In a tense Big West Conference game that saw the contest tied five times, the eleventh-ranked UC Davis women's water polo team prevailed with an overtime goal to win 6-5 over Cal State Northridge on Sunday afternoon at Matador Pool.

UCD's Kaylee Miller scored the game-winning goal with eleven seconds on the clock in the first overtime. Neither team scored in the second overtime.

The game was sent into overtime with five seconds in regulation when CSUN's Sydney Sonoda fired the ball past UC Davis goalkeeper Casey Hines to make it 5-5. Only ten seconds earlier, the Aggies had gone ahead on a goal by Lindsay Kiyama.

UC Davis opened the scoring at the five minute mark of the first period on a goal by Kiyama. Four minutes later, CSUN's Kirra Kylander tied the game at 1-1.

After a Miller goal made it 2-1 with 3:44 before halftime, the Matadors scored twice to take a 3-2 halftime lead. Kristin McLaughlin scored at 2:47 of the second period followed by a goal by Alison Pierce with nine ticks on the clock.

Dakotah Mohr tied the game at 3-3 with 7:16 left in the third period, but Jessica Coy's team leading 44th goal of the year sent the Matadors in front again at 4-3 with 3:26 left in the period.

Back came UC Davis as Mohr scored her second goal of the game at 7:16 remaining in the game to tie the contest at 4-4

Jillian Stapf collected a season-high 20 saves for Cal State Northridge.

The defeat evened CSUN's season record at 14-14 and 1-1 in the conference.

UC Davis is 19-7 overall and 2-0 in the Big West.
