Honolulu, Hw - Jessica Coy scored three goals to lead the 14th ranked Cal State Northridge women's water polo team to a 9-4 victory over Cal Baptist on Sunday afternoon at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Earlier in the day, Tara McGinley scored three goals, but it wasn't enough as the Matadors dropped a 15-9 decision to fifth-ranked Hawai'i in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) game.
In the victory over Cal Baptist, the Matadors jumped to a 3-0 lead after the first period, and advanced the lead to 7-0 at halftime. The lead expanded to 8-0 after three periods.
In the first game, Hawaii jumped to a 3-0 first period lead, and advanced its margin to four goals at halftime, 7-3.
All three of McGinley's goals came in the third period.
Allison Brookes added two goals for CSUN.
CSUN now is 8-10 overall and 0-4 in the MPSF.
Wednesday, the Matadors will play an exhibition game against the Canadian Junior National "B" team in Honolulu. Game time is 10:00 a.m. (ht).
