Cal State Northridge beats Indiana, 11-10; Occidental, 15-3

Northridge, Calif. - Cal State Northridge hosted its annual Matador mini-marathon on Tuesday afternoon, and the 14th ranked Matadors recorded two wins; a dramatic 11-10 sudden victory over Indiana, and a 15-3 decision over Occidental.
In the first game of the day, Chelsea Curran scored the winning goal in sudden victory overtime to lift the Matadors to a one game verdict over the Hoosiers. Curran scored a career-high five goals.
Curran was the hero of the game as she tallied the tying goal (9-9) with 49 seconds in regulation. Indiana took the lead in the first overtime, 10-9, on Lauren Wyckoff's fourth goal of the game. However, Curran found the back of the Hoosier net with 25 seconds left in the first overtime to tie the game at 10-10.
In the nitecap, eleven different Matador players scored at least one goal in a decisive 15-3 victory over Occidental. Allison Brookes led the CSUN attack with three goals. Bethany Scamara and Courtney Hudgins each added a pair of goals.
The Matadors raced to a 6-0 lead to open the game, and led by the end of the first period, 7-1. The lead advanced to 9-1 at halftime.
The two victories raised CSUN's season record to 6-9.
Thursday at 3:00 p.m., Cal State Northridge hosts Bucknell.
