Cal State Northridge Finishes 3-1 at Cal Lutheran Invitational

Thousand Oaks, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge women's water polo team closed out weekend play at the Cal Lutheran Invitational by losing a 9-3 decision on Sunday afternoon to UCLA, the three-time defending NCAA champions.

The Bruins, again contenders to capture a fourth straight national crown, jumped to a 3-1 first period lead, and extended the margin to 7-3 at halftime.

Kirra Kylander, Jessica Coy and Kristin McLaughlin each scored a goal for the Matadors.

The loss broke CSUN's three-game winning streak. Cal State Northridge finished the weekend tournament with a 3-1 record to raise its season record to 8-12.

On Sunday morning, Cal State Northridge scored a 12-5 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay.

Sydney Sonoda, who scored five goals in wins over Cal Lutheran and Redlands on Saturday, tallied four goals in the win over Cal State Monterey Bay. Coy added three goals while Alison Pierce scored twice.
