Ninth-ranked Cal State Northridge Falls To #8 Arizona State, 14-4, at UC Irvine Invitational

Irvine, Calif. - A 14-4 loss by ninth-ranked Cal State Northridge to eighth-ranked Arizona State on Saturday morning has pushed the Matadors to the consolation bracket at the prestigious UC Irvine Invitational.

A four-game outburst by the Sun Devils in the second period led to a 5-1 half-time lead for ASU. The onslaught continued in the next two periods as ASU outscored CSUN, 4-1, in the third period, and 5-1 in the final frame.

Chelsea Curran, Sydney Sonoda, Alison Pierce and Heidi Pettinger each scored one goal for Cal State Northridge.

Cal State Northridge (9-3) will face UC San Diego (2-10) at 3:15 p.m. at Corona Del Mar High School. UCSD fell to top-ranked and unbeaten Stanford (10-0), 15-3.
