CSUN Opens 2010 Season With 18-6 Drubbing Of Azusa Pacific

Riverside, Ca. - The Cal State Northridge women's water polo team opened the 2010 season with a convincing 18-6 victory over Azusa Pacific on Friday morning at the Cal Baptist Invitational.

Eleven different Matador players found the back of the oppositions net. Senior Kirra Kylander led the CSUN attack with three goals. Kylie Sarpa, Whitney Delgado, Alison Pierce, Renee Gargiulo and Sydney Sonoda each collected a pair of goals.

Cal State Northridge held a 5-4 lead after the first period, but the Matadors broke the game open with five goals compared to one for Azusa Pacific in the second period.

The onslaught continued in the third period when the Matadors outscored Azusa Pacific, 4-0.

Senior All-American Jillian Stapf collected seven saves.
