Brianna Battles (formerly Brianna Wilson) enters her fifth season (2013-14) as an assistant coach with the nationally-ranked Cal State Northridge women's water polo team.
Her coaching talents have helped CSUN produce great water polo teams that have been nationally ranked. During her tenure under CSUN head coach Dr. Marcelo Leonardi, the Matadors have chalked up a 91-56 overall record. The 91 wins included a school record 28 wins in 2010, 21 wins in 2011, and 23 wins in 2013.
In her first year, the 2010 season, Battles helped coach the water polo team to a regular season Big West Championship, and their highest national ranking in the team's history.
During her coaching tenure at CSUN, six players have captured All-American honors eight times. In Big West Conference competition, she has helped coach nine players to all-league hoinors ten times.
In the classroom, Battles has helped Cal State Northridge compile a yearly GPA that is comparable to such world class universities such as Stanford and Harvard. Twenty-four players have earned Academic All-American 38 times during Battles' tenure at CSUN.
Battles played three years in the Matador program after transferring after starting her collegiate career at San Jose State.
Battles, who earned a degree in Kinesiology at CSUN, graduated in May 2008.
She currently works in Corporate Wellness as a Wellness Coordinator, designing exercise and nutrition programs.
Battles graduated from Bonita High School in 2004 in LaVerne, Calif. While at Bonita, she played water polo and swam for the swim team.
